The Orchid man” is the tenth fragrance in the Frapin perfume line and is built on the contrast of brutality and sensuality. The inspiration for this perfume was George Carpentier’s remarkable personality with the nickname “the Orchid Man.” He was a French boxer, actor, and World War I pilot.

House of Frapin, in its way, highlights the fragrant life story of the legendary man famous by his elegance and resourcefulness. On the one hand, easy-going and frivolous, on the other — full of determination and desire for victory. In addition to his boxing career, George tried his hand in rugby, as an actor, and even turned a penny as a broker. For several years he traveled from Paris to Hollywood, organizing shows and participating himself, reflecting on his purpose in life. Being the one who is always open to new adventures, he decides to open a cocktail bar in Paris, which later brought the man another success.

The unusual nickname «Orchid Man» was given to him, not only because of his sensuality and business acumen, as one may think. Georges Carpentier gained it because of his unusual and eccentric way of life for a man addicted to orchids: the boxer cultivated the most capricious kind of flowers at home and did often go out in public with a flower in his buttonhole. The contrasts of Carpentier’s personality conquered the creative director of Frapin. David Frossard, also an expert in boxing and a big fan of Georges, put forward the idea of a fresh, elegant, powerful perfume. A few years earlier, David met with Jérôme Epinette from Robertet and asked him to interpret this story in the aroma.

First of all, I built up the fragrance around an animal leather accord that gives the scent its signature, power, elegance, and the iconic aspect of boxing gloves. The patchouli brings hot and humid tones that conjure up the atmosphere in a boxing gym. I then added a sparkling and energizing freshness with Calabrian bergamot and Madagascar black pepper as a reminder of all the energy used up during a fight,”- Jerome shared.

The Orchid Man by Frapin belongs to a chypre family and produced in the concentration Eau de parfum.
