Frapin The Orchid Man: Fragrance Description

The Orchid Man is a fragrance created by the House of Frapin, the 10th in their perfume line. The fragrance is inspired by the life and personality of George Carpentier, a French boxer, actor, and WWI pilot. Carpentier was known for his elegance and resourcefulness and his many pursuits in life, including playing rugby, acting, and even opening a cocktail bar in Paris. He was nicknamed the "Orchid Man" due to his unusual hobby of cultivating orchids and wearing them as a boutonnière.

First of all, I built up the fragrance around an animal leather accord that gives the scent its signature, power, elegance, and the iconic aspect of boxing gloves. The patchouli brings hot and humid tones that conjure up the atmosphere of a boxing gym. I then added a sparkling and energizing freshness with Calabrian bergamot scent and Madagascar black pepper as a reminder of all the energy used up during a fight

David Frossard, the creative director of Frapin, was captivated by the contrasts in Carpentier's personality. He is also a fan of boxing and Georges and put forward the idea of creating a perfume that would reflect the life and personality of this legendary man. Frossard approached Jérôme Epinette from Robertet to interpret this story into the fragrance. The result is a fresh, elegant, and powerful scent that embodies the spirit of George Carpentier and his life filled with adventure, determination, and a love for the finer things in life. The fragrance captures the contrast between Carpentier's brutality and sensuality.
